Beginning Strings Camp 10:40 - 11:30 AM Beginning Strings Camp will introduce violins and cellos to children ages 6-10 years old. Camp gives students five days of hands-on instruction, along with developing aural skills and beginning music theory.
Junior Orchestra 11:40-1:15 The junior string orchestra program is a great summer opportunity for musicians in grades 4-9, with at least one year of instruction on their instrument. Students will develop their ensemble skills and musicianship in this camp, and need to be comfortable reading music. Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
Advanced Chamber Orchestra 1:30 - 3:15 Tune up for fall at chamber orchestra camp! Students who have been studying a string instrument for 3 years or more will enjoy the challenge of performing in an ensemble without a conductor. This summer program offers local students the opportunity to develop their talents and grow their collaborative and leadership skills, while working closely with other committed young musicians. Specifically for high school students, middle school students may be considered by audition or recommendation from their teacher.
Keyboards for Beginners 3:30 - 4:20, Ages 6-12 A very low stress, yet fun way to become introduced to the world of piano playing. Students learn the basics of reading music, the foundations of rhythm, and basic piano techniques within a positive learning environment. Our keyboard lab includes state of the art Yamaha keyboards to encourage both group ensemble playing as well as individual playing. The use of both guided group practice and individual practice through the use of headphones will both be utilized.
